In a shocking turn of events, the debate over her party's merger into the Congress party was started. We have been hearing about this for some time. It all started with Sharmila meeting firebrand Congress leader DK Shivakumar who is serving as the Karnataka Deputy CM.
Sharmila met a few leaders in the Congress party. However, the meetings did not result in either speeding up the process or getting clarity on the process. On the other hand, the proposal for Sharmila's merger is getting a negative response from the leaders. A few leaders openly opposed this.
