Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United were brutally trolled by Indian fans after calling Pakistan’s defeat against India in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup an upset. India hammered Pakistan by seven wickets in the much-anticipated meeting between the two teams at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14 to extend their unbeaten run against the Men in Green to 8-0 in the ODI World Cup.
Afghanistan recorded the first major uspet in the 2023 ODI World Cup on Sunday, October 15 after thrashing defending champions England by 69 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Afghanistan, who were on a winless streak of 14 matches in the ODI World Cup, played out of their skins to stun England and bag their only second victory in the history of the tournament. Afghanistan’s last win in the ODI World Cup came against Scotland in 2015 while they remained winless in the last edition of the World Cup in 2019.
While Afghanistan’s historic victory over England will certainly be counted among the major upsets in the tournament, India’s win over Pakistan was a routine victory for Rohit Sharma and his men. India have never lost against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup and possesses a flawless 8-0 record against their arch-rivals.
“Two upsets in two days! CWC 23 is already full of surprises,” PSL franchise Islamabad United wrote in a tweet on social media platform ‘X’ referring to India’s win over Pakistan and Afghanistan’s victory over England. The post soon went viral and the Indian fans made sure to give it back to the PSL team.
