After meeting with the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar, Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, “The US and Israel will be responsible for the possible opening of new fronts of resistance and any escalation to war.” Iran has been clear on its support for Palestinian forces in the present ‘war’ with Israel. Earlier, Iran’s supreme leader Ebrahim Raisi in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, told him, “The situation will get more complicated if Israeli forces are not stopped.” The latest warning from Iran is, ‘Hands on trigger if aggressions against Palestinians don’t stop.’
Iran shares an old bonhomie with the Palestinian state and has been a vocal opponent of Israel. It has provided support, both financial and military, to the Palestinian state and other non-state actors who work against Israel.
